MARQUETTE — The Blueberry Dance Festival has been going on since Monday, but now it’s almost time for the most anticipated part of the week.

The Blueberry Festival begins Friday. There will be all kinds of fun things to do in Downtown Marquette, from sidewalk sales to pony rides. With so many people out and about, it’s a great event for local businesses, and many of them are gearing up for the rush, including Babycakes.

“There’s going to be lots of customers coming in, we’re going to have a tent outside. There’s going to be blueberry lemonades, blueberry muffins going out…all kinds of blueberry treats for you. I’m not sure how busy we’re going to be, but, I’ve heard we’re getting pretty busy this year,” said Shayla Hagleberg, who works at Babycakes.

There are some great events going on during the festival that you won’t want to miss. The Youth Talent Show, sponsored by the Lake Superior Youth Theater will be at the corner of Front and Washington Streets from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. There will be a Medieval Armored Combat demonstration on Washington Street at 2:00 P.M. and The Spirit Warrior Karate Academy will be doing a demonstration at 5:00 P.M.
