Big day for students and faculty at local university

MARQUETTE– Summer breaking is coming to an end and Northern Michigan University is gearing up for another school year.

The university hosted it’s first move in day today and moved in over two thousand students. A lot of work and communication went into making this day run smoothly.

In addition to greeting students and helping them get settled in housing, there have been activities planned for the weekend aimed at helping students adjust to college life and connect with the university and community,

Officials say that this is going to be a big change for many students.
“I’m sure there’s got to be a lot of anxiety and maybe some fears even with that,” said NMU Director of Housing and Residence Life Jeff Korpi.

He continued, “but I really think that students are ready for this and our incoming students folks are excited to be here and we’re so excited to have them.”

According to Northern Michigan University, orientation will last all next week and the first day of classes will begin next Monday.
