Big Bay man arraigned in Robin Rahoi fatal hit-and-run accident

A Big Bay man will be back in court in April on a charge related to the fatal hit-and-run accident involving Robin Rahoi.

Michael Nels Nelson, 46, is charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault, resulting in death. Judge Roger Kangas arraigned him in 96th District Court in Ishpeming this morning by video conference.

Nelson is accused of being the driver in a pedestrian accident on County Road KCB, or Lighthouse Road, in Big Bay on December 17th. Rahoi, 54, was killed in that accident. The vehicle left the scene.

Police arrested Nelson Monday afternoon. He has a preliminary exam scheduled for April 7th in Marquette.

Nelson is in the Marquette County Jail on $150,000 bond. He has retained Timothy Quinnell of Marquette as his attorney.
