Benishek talks healthcare in the Copper Country

U.S. Congressman Dan Benishek had two stops scheduled Monday in the Upper Peninsula.  The first was at the American Legion in Hancock where he talked about the fight to repeal President Obama’s healthcare law.

“The President himself delayed implantation of a major part of his bill.,” Benishek said.  “We are hoping to delay further parts of it and repeal the rest.  Hopefully, as time goes by, the American people will support candidates that will do that.”

Benishek fielded questions from the audience on topics ranging from mining in the U.P. to veteran’s benefits and Medicare.  But the conversation continued to return to the law known as Obamacare.

“I think people are pretty upset about the President’s healthcare bill,” Benishek said.  “I think, nobody really has defended the bill.  I think the American people realize how bad it is and that we need to repeal it.  I think that was something I heard here today.  People are concerned about the waste of money going on in Washington and the loss of their rights.”

Benishek’s other scheduled stop in the Upper Peninsula is a town hall meeting in Negaunee Monday evening.
