Benishek releases statement on Congressional race

WASHINGTON, D.C. — While elections for Michigan’s First Congressional District are still over a year away, Dr. Dan Benishek already has an opponent aiming for his seat.

Lon Johnson announced his candidacy Thursday evening in Ishpeming. He will be running on the Democratic ticket against Benishek, the incumbent Republican. In response to recent developments in the race for that seat, Dr. Benishek’s office released a statement.

It reads, “Dr. Dan is focused on serving Northern Michigan in Congress, growing the economy by breaking down Obama’s burdensome and unnecessary regulations, and improving the care our veterans have earned through his Veterans Action Initiative and Veteran Assistance Fairs throughout the district.”
