Bell Hospital’s first baby of 2014 is a boy

A couple from Munising received a very special surprise on New Year’s Day.

Andrew Michael Henricksen was due around Christmas, but he decided to make a grand entrance and wait until the new year.

Andrew weighs 7 lbs. 10 oz. and is 20” long.  He is the first newborn at Bell Hospital in Ishpeming for 2014, much to the surprise of his parents.

“It was pretty surprising.  I did not think we would be the first one because it was already well into the New Year’s Day already,” Andrew’s mother, Donielle Graves said.  “We did not expect him to be the very first one, pretty surprising actually.  He is going to have a much better birthday on New Year’s Day than on Christmas.”

“It’s excellent, it’s a great feeling, great way to start the year out,” Michael Henricksen, Andrew’s father, said.

Andrew Michael was named after his dad and several other relatives.

Despite one hour drive from Munising in the freezing temperatures, the couple said everything has been incredible.

And, they could not ask for a more perfect baby.
