Believers walk for Good Friday
MARQUETTE — Parishioners across the city came together this morning for a Good Friday reflection.
The Marquette Ministerial Association held a two mile walk that started and ended at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Walkers stopped at several places like the Harbor House and the Room at the Inn Warming Center to pray for people who suffer from addiction, abuse and homelessness.
“We pray for reconciliation, for healing, for justice, for peace, for new beginnings and we tray and make a connection between the cross of Christ and the realities of brokenness in our world,” David VanKley, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, said. “I mean I hope that people in the community see the Christian community together, on Good Friday, making a public witness to the power of the gospel to bring healing, forgiveness, reconciliation, peace, and justice and see the church for what it is-as a community of people seeking those things.”
Though it was only eleven degrees, the walk still saw nearly 25 participants.
