Bark River Man Sentenced to 78 Months in Prison

A Bark River man was sentenced today in a case that has already sent three others to prison.

31 year old Nathan Peter Kobasic of Bark River was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute more than 220 pounds of marijuana.

He also received four years of supervised release.

In october of 2009 detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team intercepted a shipment of marijuana being sent via fed–ex to 34 year old Jason Scott Schwalbach also of Bark River. UPSET then discovered that the package was intended to go to Kobasic.

Schwalbach received 6 months in prison and two years supervised release.

Two other defendants in the case are also serving prison terms.
