Fair season is definitely here in the Upper Peninsula, and now residents in Baraga County are joining in on the fun.

The Baraga County Fair began Friday at the Pelkie Fairgrounds.  The fair features horseback riding competitions, a petting zoo, and live music.

Some of the highlights of the weekend include the Fair Queen talent competition, the Ugly Purse Auction, and the fair’s much anticipated fireworks show.

On Saturday, the Pelkie Fire Department will be serving up a chicken barbeque and the annual demolition derby takes place on Sunday.  A full schedule of events can be found at the fair’s website.

Weekend passes for adults are just $10 and children are $6.  One day passes are $4 for guests 12 and older, and $3 for kids 7-11.  Children six and under are free.
