Attempted murder suspect shot by police heads to circuit court

A Chippewa County man has been bound over to Circuit Court now that he’s recovered from the gunshot wound he sustained when a police officer shot him.

29–year–old Scott Brown of Sault Ste. Marie is charged with attempted murder and interfering with electronic communication. He’s being held in the Chippewa County Jail without bond.

There was no word from staff in 50th Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon about his next court date.

Brown is accused of holding a woman hostage at knife point in early December.

A Sault Ste. Marie City Police officer shot him after Brown was said to have refused commands from the officer to let the woman go.

The officer who shot Brown was placed on administrative leave, with pay, pending completion of the investigation.
