Attempted murder suspect pleads to lesser charge

SAULT STE. MARIE — A Sault Ste. Marie man who was shot by police after allegedly holding a woman hostage at knifepoint in December has entered a plea agreement.

29-year-old Scott Brown pleaded guilty to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder in Chippewa County Circuit Court Wednesday. The original charges of attempted murder and interfering with electronic communications will be dropped as part of the agreement.

Brown will be sentenced sometime in the next four weeks.
