Assault suspect bound over to Circuit Court

LAKE LINDEN — The case against a Hancock man accused of attacking a woman in Lake Linden is moving forward.

Jeremy Vernon Looper, 41, waived his preliminary hearing in District Court and was bound over to Circuit Court. Looper is charged with 1st Degree Home Invasion, which is a felony punishable by 20 years in prison.
He is also charged with Assault With A Deadly Weapon without intending to commit murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 4 years in prison. He is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

Police say Looper assaulted a Lake Linden woman with a knife in her apartment in late June. Looper will be arraigned in Houghton County Circuit Court later this month.
