Armed robbery suspect arraigned

One of the suspects involved in an armed robbery a week ago in Watton was in court Thursday.

Donovan Lee Waupoose, 21

Donovan Lee Waupoose, 21, of Stephenson was charged with seven counts at his arraignment in Baraga County District Court.

He is charged with two counts each of Armed Robbery, Extortion, and Unlawful Imprisonment, and one count of Impersonating a Police Officer to Commit a Crime.

Waupoose was arrested Monday at a residence in Stephenson.  Police recovered evidence at the residence from the armed robbery in Watton, as well as evidence from another robbery and kidnapping in Long Lake, Wisconsin.

Waupoose’s alleged accomplice, Bernard Fish, is still at large.  He is described as Native American with short black hair, about 5’11” and weighing 185 pounds.

Waupoose is currently in the Baraga County Jail on a $1 million bond; his next court date is set for August 27.
