MARQUETTE — An Ishpeming man involved in an armed robbery and a standoff with police was sentenced this morning in Marquette County Circuit Court.

Kirk Michael Schultz, 28, received 11 months in jail and two years probation from Judge Jennifer Mazzuchi.

Schultz was one of four people arrested as part of an armed robbery in Marquette back in March. He pleaded guilty last month to one count of accessory after the fact to a felony.

All other charges against Schultz were dropped as a result of a plea agreement.

“What you did here was dangerous to many people. You put a lot of people in fear and it was really quite serious,” said Judge Mazzuchi.

“When you look at the situation, you have to think about what could have happened; the amount of drugs that were at issue here, the weapon and the potential for real serious and permanent physical harm or death to somebody who was involved with this incident,” she added.

Police took Schultz into custody in May after a brief standoff in Ishpeming Township.
