Antique Car Show rolls into Negaunee

Rolling into town this weekend is the Iron Industry Museum’s 25th annual antique auto exhibit: “Iron, Steel and the Automobile”.

An extensive variety of rare classic cars will all be lined up along the parking area at the Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee. Vehicles featured in the exhibit are all original or restored to original condition.

“There will be a mix of light trucks, old–fashioned cars, Model A’s, Model T’s, fire trucks, a general mix dating from 1901 all the way up to 1972,” Iron Industry Museum historian Barry James said.

As you cruise down memory lane you will get to view more than 60 vintage vehicles, as well as enjoy live music, food, and a one–act comedy show about traveling to the U.P. in the 50’s.

“We will have on display a 1909 Sears J Hi–Wheel, which was a catalog mail–order vehicle that could be assembled once it was shipped. Dick Lutey from Marquette will have that vehicle here for people to take a look at and the Steam Pumper from the Michigamme Historical Society which is a very rare artifact as well,” James said.

Admission for the event and to browse the museum is free but there is a $3 suggested parking donation fee that will go toward the museum’s education fund.  The event is Sunday from 12-4 p.m.
