ISHPEMING — A large group got their holiday weekend started with one of the most successful events in downtown Ishpeming earlier today.

The Festival of Treasures takes up close to six blocks of downtown Ishpeming. The event is a great opportunity for people of all ages to see what the City of Ishpeming has to offer, including local businesses.

“There are options for retail in our community, of course we’re close enough to Marquette and Marquette Township that it’s sort of difficult,” said Main Street Antique Mall Owner David Aeh, “you have to be the kind of business that doesn’t compete head to head with big box corporate America stores and so a business like mine, which is a destination and unique is the kind of business that cannot just survive, but can thrive in a place like downtown Ishpeming and I’m delighted to be here.”

The Festival of Treasures showcases many food and product vendors ranging from handmade dolls and necklaces to Croatian chicken and funnel cake. The non-stop fun throughout downtown Ishpeming entertains thousands each year.
