NEGAUNEE — The biggest dog party of the year is coming up this weekend and all you need to bring is your regale canine and some running shoes.

The 11th annual Strut your Mutt will be held this Saturday at the Lower Harbor in Marquette. During this event, individuals can decide to either walk or run with their dogs. Multiple vendors will also be selling food, drinks, along with raffles for participants to enjoy either before or after the strut.

Despite previous damage of the grounds during Beer Fest, the city has worked with the Upper Peninsula Welfare Shelter to ensure the dog party will still go on.

“Its fine, it’s going to work out absolutely fine. The city was very accommodating and really helped us find out where we were to go. So we’re not cancelled, it’s rain or shine or mud or not I guess,” said Strut your Mutt Chair, Ann Brownell.

This year’s goal is to reach $28,000 from the pledges and all the proceeds will go to a great cause.

“All of the money goes to our no kill mission to help these wonderful animals that come to our shelter find loving homes, so it’s super important that the community supports us and our community always supports us and we’re very, very thankful. So come on down to the biggest dog party of the year,” said Brownell.

Registration begins on Saturday at 8:30 A.M. for runners and 9:15 for the walkers.
