MARQUETTE — The trial for a 60–year–old man charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct with a victim under the age of 13 began today.
Joel Anderson of Little lake appeared in Marquette County Circuit Court on Tuesday. The 60–year–old man is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving multiple victims under the age of 13 and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving multiple victims under the age of 13.
During the first day of trial a jury was selected. The jury heard testimony from Erica Ham, a registered nurse at UP Health System – Marquette.
Ham was working when the victims were taken to the hospital on the night of October 3rd and 4th of 2014. She testified that both victims reported on their own that they had been touched inappropriately. Ham added that erythema was reported, which is the result of skin irritation and can be consistent with the complaint of the victims.
Trial will resume on Wednesday morning with expected testimony from the mother of the victims, with the potential of other relatives, and police officers as well. We’ll keep you updated as the trial moves along.
