CALUMET — A Calumet man on a multi–state crime spree is being sought by police.

Officers from the Calumet Police Department have requested an arrest warrant for 36–year–old Isaac Laplander. He is wanted for allegedly stealing a sports car from Kissel Chevrolet in Calumet. He is wanted by Wisconsin police for using the stolen car in a robbery attempt in Hurley. Laplander subsequently eluded police after a chase in Taylor County, Wisconsin, where it is believed he stole another vehicle.

Laplander was out on bond at the time after being arrested by Calumet Police earlier this week for a breaking and entering incident at Harter’s Auto Supply in Calumet. He allegedly stole numerous tools and chainsaws from the business and broke into the safe. Some of the property was recovered after a search warrant was executed at Laplander’s residence.

With the safe break–in added on to the other crimes, Laplander could get up to life in prison.
