Alger gets his new bike

ISHPEMING — Alger Barry got his new bike today and the community came together to help break it in with him.

Diagnosed with a rare syndrome that affects the joints, the eleven year old boy needed a bike specially equipped with a seat belt and foot straps for his feet. Today, he got just that.

“It’s overwhelming and it’s emotional, to see how everybody cares for him,” remarked his mother, Patty Barry.

When asked if his awesome bike made the other kids on the playground jealous, Alger humbly deflected the question with a laugh, “nah.”

His mother explained how the day came together, “All the kids who actually did the lemonade stand for Alger (were gathered) to see the bike that they worked hard for to raise some of the money. They wanted the kids to be part of the experience with him.”

Speaking of, the kids had a great time racing around with Alger and challenging the Ishpeming boy to races around the playground on what was an extraordinarily exciting and special day.
