Alcohol Energy Drinks Banned in MI

Alcohol energy drinks have a short shelf life in Michigan.

They’ll soon be pulled from stores.

The state Liquor Control Commission has rescinded its approval of the drinks.

Once the manufacturers of alcohol energy drinks are notified, they’ll have 30 days to remove the drinks from the shelves.

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission says the packaging of the drinks is often misleading and appeals to children and teens.

The FDA has not approved the products

A typical alcohol energy drink is 24 ounces and has a 12% alcohol content.

By contrast, a 12-ounce can of beer consists of 4% to 5% alcohol.
