Agency Accepts Applications for Auto Theft Prevention Grants

LANSING – The Automobile Theft Prevention Authority (ATPA) is currently accepting applications from law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, judicial agencies and community/neighborhood organizations for enforcement, prosecution, community awareness and prevention programs aimed at reducing automobile theft.

These grants are funded from assessments paid by insurance companies to the ATPA. Due to the limited funds available, a 50 percent hard match is required for all applicants, with the exception of non-profit neighborhood/community organizations. Funds must be utilized to enhance auto theft prevention efforts, not for supplanting current programs.

Grant applications must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2012.

The next grant period begins on Oct. 1, 2012 and ends on Sept. 30, 2013.

The application deadline is June 1, 2012.
