Adopt-a-Child Christmas program looking for help
Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan held a community day Thursday where youth, foster parents and staff were treated to an award ceremony and luncheon.
With Christmas around the corner, the agency is looking for help to meet the needs of the kids. Christmas is a time of joy, but it can be a time of sadness for youth who are away from their families while dealing with a crisis. The Teaching Family Homes Adopt-a-Child allows the community to make sure that every child has true Christmas morning.
“We provide our youth with a list and they fill out a Christmas list, just like they’re sending a list to Santa asking for certain gifts,” Director of Public Relations at Teaching Family Homes Rich Rossway said. “Because our children come from backgrounds where they typically haven’t had a normal Christmas. We reach out to the community to adopt that one specific child, then they go out and shop for that child.”

The Teaching Family Homes will be selling a limited number of Krispy Kreme donuts Friday and Saturday (November 8-9) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westwood Mall. The money earned from the sale goes directly to Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan.
