Adopt a Day at Beacon House

The U.P.’s only medical hospitality house celebrated an excellent year in 2011.

And it’s trying to keep the momentum going in the new year.

Staff at Beacon House in Marquette say people around the u–p were very giving to the nonprofit last year.

In 2012, they’d like area residents to adopt a day at the house.

And they set New Year’s Day aside for a pair of generous donors.

Mary Dowling, Beacon House development director, says adopting a day for $100 is a great way to honor someone special to you.

She also says they decided to set aside New Year’s Day to thank the LeGalleys of Marquette.

Tom and Sue LeGalley gave skybox tickets for the Packers–Lions New Year’s Day game to Beacon House.

a raffle involving the tickets raised nearly 22–thousand dollars.

Beacon House is a home away from home for people who have to travel to the Marquette area for medical treatment.

It serves about 10,000 people a year, and it has to sustain itself on community donations.
