Woman arrested after assault incident enters plea

ESCANABA — A woman arrested after an assault incident in Escanaba earlier this year has entered a plea agreement in Delta County Circuit Court.

Shilo Powers, 20 of Escanaba, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of lying to a peace officer. She was originally charged with being an accessory to a felony; as part of her plea agreement, that charge will be dismissed.

Powers was arrested in April along with Timothy Heitz, 19 of Kansas, in connection to the assault of a man with the rounded end of a hatchet. Heitz was given up to fifteen years in prison for carrying a concealed weapon and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

Powers is scheduled to be sentenced in Circuit Court on October 24th.
