MARQUETTE — Today’s Marquette City Commission meeting included public discussion regarding the yellow wall issue on Front Street in Marquette.

Years ago, the White sisters bought some blighted property on 215 Front Street and planned to restore it.

The MEDC grant that financed the project included one stipulation of fixing an unsightly, yellow wall facing the south.

But the sisters could not work out an agreement with the neighbors, The Watermarq, to gain construction access to the wall.

While it was revealed at today’s meeting that general construction on the property is two weeks from completion, the wall issue remains at large.

There have been private negotiations, even mediation, but still no deal reached.

So today, supporters wanting construction access to the wall asked the commission for help with the situation.

A situation slated to head back to court.
