The first rehearsals for the Miss Upper Peninsula USA and Miss Upper Peninsula Teen USA 2016 Pageant were held earlier today.

Forest Roberts Theatre at Northern Michigan University is the host site for the big show. A show that includes a variety of contestants from different backgrounds all across the UP.

But Pageant Director, Jennifer Skogman–Wagner says they all have one thing in common.

“They’re all confident young women that wanna show that, ‘hey, I’m great being myself and I have so much potential in the world.'” She continued, “And this is one great outlet for contestants to show what makes them truly unique as an individual.”

Speaking of unique backgrounds; outgoing title holder, Madelyn Christensen had little experience with pageants prior to winning in 2015.

“I wasn’t really familiar with pageants before I competed in this one,” exclaimed last year’s winner, “I’ve learned so much about myself through this pageant.”

Rehearsals continue throughout the day tomorrow leading right up to the on–stage competition in the evening at 6:00pm. The winner goes on to compete at the Miss Michigan USA and Miss Michigan Teen USA state preliminaries.
