UPDATE: Police pursuit suspect arraigned

UPDATE — 4:15 p.m. April 1st, 2016 (EDT)

The Calumet man who fled from police yesterday afternoon was arraigned today in Houghton County District Court.

Thirty–three year old Patrick Shey is facing four felony charges: second degree home invasion, third degree fleeing from police, possession of a controlled substance- analogues and resisting, obstructing and assaulting a police officer.

Shey allegedly broke into a home on Bootjack Road in Torch Lake Township and led police on a pursuit that ended when his vehicle became stuck in the snow.

He’s due back in court for a preliminary exam on April 20th.


CALUMET — A 33-year-old Calumet man is behind bars tonight after leading police on a vehicle pursuit.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., troopers with the Michigan State Police Calumet Post were dispatched to a breaking and entering in progress on Bootjack Road in Torch Lake Township. A trooper responding to the scene saw the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to pull him over.

The suspect took off and a chase ensued. The suspect’s vehicle became stuck in the snow as he drove through Gratiot River Road.

Police arrested the man and took him to the Houghton County Jail. He is facing a fleeing and eluding charge with more charges pending.

The suspect’s name will not be released until he’s arraigned in Houghton County District Court.
