MARQUETTE — The heavy, wet snow that fell in many parts of the Upper Peninsula the last two days left some people in the dark.
Officials with the Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) have spent the last twenty-four plus hours restoring power to Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Marquette counties. At one point, 3,500 customers were without power in Keweenaw County.
Trees and limbs weighed down by the recent snowfall hitting power lines and windy conditions breaking power polls caused the outages. UPPCO crews are currently fixing the remaining outages in Houghton and Hancock.
To report a power outage, customers should call UPPCO at 1-800-562-7809.
