LANSING — Gov. Rick Snyder has submitted an appeal with the federal government for assistance that was originally denied for the City of Flint.
In his appeal to the Federal Management Emergency Agency, Snyder requested funding that would cover costs for food, water and other essential needs for Flint residents. The federal funding would also cover the removal of health and safety hazards and emergency measures to protect further damage to the city.
Snyder first requested federal help back in January after declaring a state of emergency, three weeks after the City of Flint declared a local state of emergency concerning the city’s water.
