Police warning public about ice conditions, safety

GLADSTONE — Police in Delta County are reminding people to use extreme caution when venturing out on the ice.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Gladstone Public Safety and Delta County Search and Rescue responded on a report of a snowmobile going through the ice just off the City Marina. No injuries occurred and both people declined medical treatment.

At 10:00 p.m., Gladstone Public Safety responded to the area of Butlers Island in Kipling on a report of a vehicle that had broken through the ice. Upon arriving on scene, police discovered three different vehicles had broken through the ice.

No injuries were reported and everyone made it back to shore safely.
