TRAVERSE CITY — A democratic nominee for a congressional seat has received support from a former congressman.
Lon Johnson picked up an endorsement today in the form of former Congressman Bart Stupak, who served as the U.P. and Northern Michigan’s voice in Washington for 18 years.
In a statement, Stupak said that he supports Johnson because, “He will work to create a U.P. and Northern Michigan where are families can stay and succeed.”
Stupak retired from Congress in 2010. Dan Benishek (R-Crystal Falls), who currently occupies the seat, is retiring at the end of this year.
