City changing recycling schedule
ISHPEMING — Officials in the city of Ishpeming are starting a Dual–Stream Recycling Agreement with the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority.
The recycling changes officially begin January 1st. Recycled materials need to be divided up into two separate bags: fiber materials and rigid materials.
Garbage collectors will alternate every week which materials they will pickup, in addition to the regular curbside garbage pickup. Fiber materials include newspapers, magazines and many other paper based products.
Plastic, metal and glass items are considered to be rigid materials. All recyclable materials must be clean of any food residue.
