3rd Victim Dies from Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident

The downstate man already accused of killing 2 people in Mackinac County by running them over with his SUV now had another murder charge to worry about.

28-year-old Dustan Bowen of Sanford is accused of being the driver in the fatal hit-and-run accident in Newton Township July 25th.

He’s now facing 3 counts of 2nd-degree murder because a third pedestrian from that accident has died.

26-year-old Jonel Hoogterp of Durham, North Carolina died at Marquette General on Friday.

31-year-old Julie Hatch, who was also from Durham, North Carolina, and 24-year-old Sara Dobbrastine of downstate Kent City both died the day of the accident.

2 other pedestrians were also hit.

One is out of the hospital.

The other is in stable condition at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry.
