3 to 20 Years for Manistique Beating

A Manistique man is going to prison for at least 3 years for assaulting his girlfriend.

56-year-old Terry Gould got his sentence this morning, and he could be behind bars for as long as 20 years.

He pleaded no contest last month to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

Prosecutors dropped a misdemeanor aggravated domestic violence charge.

The beating happened on January 11th.

Gould punched his 36-year-old girlfriend and stomped on her head.

She went to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and, later, the ICU at Marquette General.

Gould has previous domestic violence convictions.
