3 Drunk Driving Arrests in Marquette Co.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating three personal injury accidents from the last 24 hours in which alcohol is believed to be a factor.

On Friday night just before 10:30 p.m., when a Chevy Impala traveling North bound on M-35 in Richmond Township when the driver lost control while traveling too fast for conditions and left the snow covered road way striking several small trees. The driver was an adult male and was taken to Bell ER for an examination and was later released.

The second accident occurred right before 11:30 Friday night when the male driver of a Honda element was traveling North on Country Road 550. He lost control and crossed the centerline into a South bound fuel tanker truck. The driver of the Honda was taken to Marquette General Hospital’s ER where he received medical attention for a leg injury. The driver of the tanker truck was uninjured.

The Sheriff’s Department is also investigating an accident that happened at 8 am Saturday morning on County Road 550 near Middle Island Point. The male driver of a Mercury Sable was southbound when he lost control and left the roadway striking a rock outcropping, causing the car to roll over and land back on its’ wheels. The subject was taken to the MGH ER for shoulder pain and released.

All three subjects were arrested and charged with OWI.

Alcohol is believed to be to have been a factor in a two vehicle accident between a Honda Element and a fuel tanker on Friday.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, the Honda was traveling South bound on County Road 550 near Wetmore Landing when it crossed in the centerline into the path of a fuel tanker heading North towards Big Bay.

The crash is still under investigation. The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Marquette Township Fire Department.
