NEGAUNEE — An annual event in just its second year is already gaining major popularity. Tonight, Mister U.P. 2016 will be crowned.

The pageantry for this show is not quite as glamorous as the Ms. U.P. show, which is all part of the charm. What’s more unique is that the contestants range wildly in age between 19 to 61 years old.

Vista Theater Director, Andrew “Bear” Tyler said he wouldn’t be surprised if the show sold out. Based on the eye test at the scene – it appeared his prophecy came true.

“Absolutely. Last year, I was blown away by the crowd we had of over 250. And this year’s pre–sales are already just blowing away last year’s,” he beamed, “We might even sell out tonight. The popularity of this exploded.”

The Miss America–style pageant included what Tyler described as a, quote, “all–important swim–suit competition”, an on–stage interview, and the crowning.

Brady Skewis took home the title. Congratulations, Mr. Upper Peninsula 2016.
