CRIVITZ, Wisc. — Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the Peshtigo river Saturday responding to reports of a woman who had been separated from a group of people tubing on the river.

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve says the call came in around 4 p.m.

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. (CST), emergency responders with the help of a Crivitz resident located a female submerged in the river. She was pronounced dead on scene.

The woman is a 26 year old woman from Green Bay, but her name is being withheld at this hour until authorities can notify her family.

Police do not believe the incident is the result of foul play, and say it appears to be an accidental drowning. An investigation is ongoing.
