25 to 40 Years in Prison for Sexual Abuse
A Copper Country man goes to prison for 25 to 40 years for molesting a 4-year-old girl.
That’s the mandatory minimum sentence 28-year-old Donald Uhlman of Hubbell could have received.
In March, he admitted to one count of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct.
In exchange, prosecutors dropped 2 other charges — intentionally failing to register as a sex offender, and another 1st-degree CSC.
A habitual offender notice could have been attached to the case, resulting in more prison time than usual.
But prosecutors also agreed to not use that.
The incident took place in late January.
Uhlman previously lived in downstate Standish.
He’s thought to have settled in the Keweenaw after working for a carnival.
