Racers suffer multiple injuries in weekend snowmobile accident

IRONWOOD — Two men were taken to the hospital after a severe snowmobile crash Sunday in Ironwood.

Matt Goede and Blaine Stephenson were participating in a race at the Ironwood Snowmobile Olympus when the crash occurred. Stephenson suffered a broken nose, multiple facial fractures and some brain bruising near his forehead. Goede suffered multiple compound fractures to one of his legs, broke a knee cap and fractured his pelvis.

Both men were transported to a hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin for treatment of their injuries.
