2013 CopperDog preview

The dog days of winter are over as the CopperDog Sled Dog Race has arrived.

Both the 40–mile and 150–mile races begin tonight in Calumet where the downtown will be buzzing with activity.

Restaurants, food vendors, and live music will fill the streets for the thousands of spectators that will come to cheer the mushers on.

Now in it’s fourth year, the CopperDog has solidified itself as a tradition in the Copper Country.

The teams on the 40–mile run head out of Calumet and finish in Eagle River tonight.  The teams on the 150–mile trek take a winding path from Calumet to Eagle Harbor then leave from there tomorrow morning to head up to Copper Harbor.  Then on Sunday, the mushers dash back to Calumet for the finish.
