2 Fatal U.P. Weekend Car Accidents

A busy weekend on area roads includes an unusually high number of crashes, 2 of them fatal.

One of those happened on County Road 496 in Ely Township just before 10 Saturday morning.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says 57-year-old Terry Grund of Ishpeming left the road while going around a curve in his pickup truck.

He crashed into several trees and died at Bell Hospital.

Police are still looking into why Grund may have left the road.

The other accident happened on M-129 in Sault Township at about 8 Friday night.

State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post say Wayne Tadgerson of Brimley was riding his bicycle on the road and got hit by a car.

He died at the scene.

Police say they got several calls before the accident about man in dark clothing swerving his bicycle in the road after the sun went down.

Tadgerson was wearing dark clothes.
