Two Norway women died over the weekend and two others were hurt in an accident on M-553.
49-year-old Diane Smith and her daughter, 26-year-old Nicole Smith, were passengers in a southbound van Saturday morning, just south of the Marquette city limit.
The driver, 50–year–old Ronald Smith, lost control of the van.
It crossed the centerline, hit a guardrail and then hit a northbound vehicle.
Ronald Smith was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
He was in serious condition in the ICU at Marquette General at last report.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, 41-year-old Joelle Olson from Gwinn, was treated and released.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
553 was snow-covered and slippery at the time.
